Year 9 & 10
In Middle School English students are increasingly empowered for the future - for VCE studies and life outside of and beyond school. Students continue to develop their functional literacy - their understanding of the way our language operates and how to communicate most effectively. They also learn to be more critical users and creators of texts. Students' increasing maturity, experience and awareness enable them to engage with and explore more complex themes and issues in a wide range of literature, everyday and media texts both print and non print. Students become increasingly aware of the power of the texts they read, view and produce and are encouraged to look below surface meanings to see how texts influence and affect our values and attitudes.

Year 11 &12 (VCE)
Year 11 & 12 English aims to extend the students competence in using Standard Australian English to meet the demands of further study, the workplace and the student's own needs and interests. Year 11 & 12 English concentrates on three key ares of study, illustrated below:
1. Reading and responding.
2. Creating and presenting.
3. Using language to persuade.
