Scholarships

Scholarships at Monivae are offered under two areas and comprise the following information.

General Excellence

These scholarships are for up to 50% remission of fees for up to three years.

  • Leadership
    Awarded to students who demonstrate leadership through all aspects of their life.
  • Academic
    Awarded to students who have demonstarted academic excellance.
  • Sport
    Awarded to students who have excelled at sport to a high representative level.
  • Art/Drama
    Awarded to students who have excelled in the area of the arts including music

Boarding

This scholarship is up to $2,000 remission of boarding fees for up to three years.


Year 7 2013 Scholarships are now open.

The closing date for Year 7 2013 Scholarships is Friday, 2nd March 2012.

Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded to students whose backgrounds include challenging financial or family circumstances. These bursaries are funded through either the Monivae Bursary Fund or via a Financial Assistance Bursary.

Monivae Bursary Fund

The Monivae Bursary Fund has limited bursaries available to students. This fund was established through the Monivae Foundation which administers donations to the Fund from generous Old Collegians and Friends of the College. For more information on these bursaries contact the Registrar.

Fee Concession Bursary

These bursaries are in the form of fee concessions made by Monivae College. Administered by the Principal, these bursaries are in keeping with the traditions of the schools founders, the MSCs, to make education as available to all as possible. Scholarship and Bursary FAQs

Can I apply for more than one scholarship?

Yes, if your child has achieved in more than one of these areas you can apply for as many as you wish, but if successful only one scholarship is awarded.

Who is eligible for a scholarship?

Any child who is new to the school is eligible to apply for a scholarship.

How Do I apply?

Application is by folio and interview.  Some application forms can be downloaded above or are available by contacting the Registrar.  There is no scholarship application fees or exams.  Once the application is received you will be contacted by the school to arrange a scholarship interview.

Interviews are conducted by the Principal, Senior Staff member and the Director of Boarding (if a boarding scholarship).  Both parents are encouraged to attend the interview with their child.

What if I can’t afford to send my child to Monivae?

The college has a number of special scholarships available for families.  Some of these scholarships are funded by past students and some by current staff members. 

Families facing financial difficulties are encouraged to apply for Special Scholarships.  The same process exists for applying for a special scholarship except there is an additional form that needs to be completed.  Applications is by interview and resume and accompanying financial documentation.

Confidentiality:

All scholarships granted are confidential and remain the business between the college and the family.  All successful scholarship winners are expected to contribute to all activities within the college in good faith and within the spirit of the college.

Note: Sports Scholarships

Successful applicants of Sports Scholarships must play sport for the college and represent the school in their chosen sport whenever possible.
