Monivae College Swimming Sports 2011

On Monday the 14th of February 2011, the Monivae students and staff ventured to the Hamilton Outdoor Swimming Pool for the annual Monivae Swimming Sports. House Spirit was high all throughout the day with great participation and determination in the pool, and outstanding costumes and chants in each of the House Cheer Squads. Monivae swimmers also showed a high level of success in the pool with sixteen records being broken for the day; these achievements have been acknowledged below.

Congratulations to all swimmers listed above and Glenelg for being the clear winners of the 2011 Grand Aggregate.
A huge thank you must go to all the student leaders, staff, parents and old collegians who gave up their time to help throughout out the day, whether it be marshalling, recording, timekeeping or setting and packing up the pool. Without your help the Swimming Sports would not have taken place so smoothly.


GSSA Swimming Report 2011

On Wednesday 23rd May 2011, Monivae College hosted the annual GSSSA Swimming Carnival at the Hamilton Outdoor Pool. The Monivae team competed in high spirits all day, with an impressive effort in the pool and some fantastic times being recorded.

Brody Fishwick swam beautifully on the day managing to break two individual records;
• 17Yr Male 50m Freestyle:
Old Record - 29.99
New Record - 29.97
• 17Yr Male 50m Backstroke:
Old Record - 38.40
New Record - 33.72

Brody was also a significant member of the 17Yr Male Relay Team who took 2.08 seconds off the previous 4 X 50 Freestyle Relay record with a time of 2:06.62. The 15Yr boys also broke the 4 X 50 Freestyle Relay smashing the previous time by 4.34 seconds to set the new time of 2:37.47.

Other outstanding individual performances for the day:
• Adelaide Ashby - 14Yr age group champion.
• Michael Gould - 14Yr age group champion.
• Zachary Ellwood - 15Yr age group champion.
• Kelsey Landwehr - 16Yr age group champion.
• Brody Fishwick - 17Yr age group champion.

Monivae won 5 age group pennants for the day, including:
• 14Yr Female age group.
• 14Yr Male age group.
• 15Yr Male age group.
• 17Yr Male age group.
• 20Yr Female age group.

The brilliant performances and enthusiasm of the Monivae swimmers was showcased at the end of the day when the overall results were announced:

Boys Aggregate: Monivae won 1st place by an overwhelming 14 points.
Girls Aggregate: Monivae 2nd by 3 points.
Grand Aggregate Results:
1st 325 Monivae College
2nd 314 Hamilton and Alexandra College
3rd 258 Bambridge College
4th 171 Good Shephard College
5th 170 Casterton Secondary College

Monivae was awarded with the Grand Aggregate to top off a brilliant day at the pool.
A huge thanks must go to all the staff, parents, students and old collegians who helped out on the day whether it be setting/packing up, time-keeping or marshalling. Especially to Mrs. King who took on the important role of chief recorder. Without these wonderful volunteers the Carnival would not have been such a success.
