Mark McGinnity - Principal

Mark is in his eighth year of Principalship at Monivae College. Mark has a wealth of senior executive experience in Catholic schools including leadership roles at Xavier College, Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview and St Joseph’s College, Hunters Hill. He has experience bringing about positive cultural change in both the academic sphere and in the spiritual focus of school communities. Mark is passionate about schools being respectful, inclusive and welcoming of all. His innovative strategic focus, aligned with numerous community partnerships, has an emphasis on securing Monivae’s position as the educational leader in the Western District.

 

Jonathan Rowe - Deputy Principal

Jonathan commenced as Deputy Principal of Monivae College in January 2014. Prior to this appointment, he was the Design Head of Department at Salesian College Chadstone for six years. Jonathan has a Master of Education – Wellbeing from the University of Melbourne.

Jonathan attests to having a strong faith, an authentic commitment to Catholic education and a sound knowledge of Catholic beliefs, traditions and sacramental rites. Jonathan is a strong practitioner in his own right. He is currently teaching Religious Education exclusively, but in earlier years at other schools he has held leadership positions in Design, Technology and Arts-related learning areas.

 

Yvette Colquhoun - Director of Studies

Yvette draws on her experience gained from a number of schools within the Melbourne and Ballarat Catholic Dioceses to seek excellence in teaching and learning experiences for all students. She has worked with publishers and universities to provide senior science curriculum resources and develop science pedagogical practices. From leading Science Departments through curriculum, reporting changes and building improvements in different secondary schools, Yvette has been able to transition towards whole school improvement in her senior leadership role at Monivae. She has been an active contributor and presenter at network and staff professional learning events in the areas of curriculum development through Understanding by Design principles and the creation of engaging learning environments through differentiated instruction and Visible Learning practices.

 

Danny Franc - Director of Faith and Mission

Danny commenced at the College in 2010 and has previous leadership experience in the areas of pastoral care, curriculum (Religious Education and Business studies), also sports development for the Western Australian Football Commission. Danny has a strong commitment to MSC beliefs and Catholic education. His engaging manner with both staff and students assist all at the College to connect with the MSC ethos. Additionally, Danny works closely with the Chevalier Institute, other MSC schools and numerous groups in the local community.

Darren Beks - Director of Students

Darren was a student at Monivae College from 1975-1980, and in his final year was the College Vice Captain. After completing his Physical Education/English studies, he was employed at Catholic College Bendigo for two years before returning to Monivae College as a staff member in 1987. He left teaching in 2006-2007 to manage the Hamilton Indoor Leisure & Aquatic Centre, but missed his life’s calling in working in the education sector, returning to the College in 2008. Last year, Darren tallied his 30th year on staff at Monivae, and in this lengthy stint has acted in many positions of responsibility such as Head of Sport, Faculty Leader, Daily Organiser, Junior School Co-ordinator (Years 7 and 8) and VCE School Co-ordinator (Years 11 and 12), and in 2019 is acting in dual positions of senior leadership as Director of Students and Head of Boarding. He is proud to mention that his three daughters all attended Monivae College, and were Ffrench House captains in their final year of secondary study.

 

Jim Bailey - Business Manager

As the College Business Manager, Jim is responsible for the overall day to day General Management, Financial Management, Property Management, Information Technology and Risk Management of the College. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration and brings over 25 years of experience in the finance industry to the role.

Jim is an avid sports fan and enjoys camping, fishing and gardening. His commitment to the College and students extends far beyond his job description.
