In the co-curricular sphere an integrated arts and cultural program open avenues for self-expression and personal development through music, art, drama, and multimedia. Further opportunities for expanding horizons are provided through a wide variety of activities and students clubs such as Chess, Public Speaking, Karate, Young Engineers Robotics, Gifted and Talented workshops and Days of Excellence.

Monivae certainly produces graduates of high scholastic calibre, but more importantly, we produce outstanding young men who exhibit confidence, responsibility, leadership, commendable ethics and emotional intelligence.

From these early days, the understanding is that our students will take responsibility for their actions and learning. The strong network of professionals – experienced, dynamic teachers, qualified and caring Year Coordinators and Student Counsellor together with a strong Pastoral Care Team – addresses the needs of the students at each year level.

The values and tradition of the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent permeate life in the Senior School. Students have many opportunities to engage in Community Service and contribute their time and talents for the benefit of others – whether it is in the local area or as far away as Vietnam, as part of the Antipodean’s Challenge. Senior School students participate in the active Interact Club, as well as Global Shield. Studies in Religious and Values Education at each year level contribute to the development and growth in our students’ spirituality.

MONIVAE
CADETS

The Monivae College Cadet Unit has been an integral part of the college life since Fr. Tony Prentice, MSC, established the unit back in 1963. Fr Prentice was also principal of the college from 1963 – 1968.

Cadets has a long-standing history at Monivae and has seen many students grow in self-confidence and further their leaderships skills during their time in cadets. Apart of the Year 8 curriculum is that students will belong to the unit for 12 months. From Year 9 – 12, students may remain in the unit to continue their training as well as form part of the leadership group..

After reviewing emerging educational trends, the current needs of students and the necessity to future ready them for an increasingly changing employment market, Monivae College introduced significant changes to the curriculum called Pathways.

Pathways supports greater options, improved Year 9 to 12 academic and Cadet programs, and a new and inspiring curriculum. These options have been designed to support every student to achieve and become their very best. Over 90 electives are available* and include subjects such as: Digital Photography and Photoshop, Just Desserts, Skateboards, Theatre Sports, Making and Breaking The Law, Agricultural Studies and many more.

Sport is an important part of the Monivae calendar, all students are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of team and individual sports throughout the year.
